MISSION: L.O.T.T. was formed in 2013 at Triangle Empowerment Center, Inc. and is a regional recognized group. Our mission is to empower the Trans/Drag/Cross Dresser community in our Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. We want to bring positivity to our local and surrounding community in Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill to show our Trans/Drag/Cross Dressing community in the South that we are here to help them find and receive the resources they need.
PURPOSE: We want to bring Trans/Drag/Cross Dresser women of color in the South into our group to help them build a bigger and better future. We will also be doing outreach to help bring awareness on how important it is to know your status. We will educate and guide young and all people of the Trans/Drag/Cross Dresser community. We are also here to give out valuable resources and to guide our community to the proper resources they need as far as concerning healthcare, housing, food, awareness, employment, equality, religion, transphobia, anti-transviolence, stigma, & discrimination.
PROGRAMS OFFERED: (not all programs are listed at the time)
- Support Group-Providing a safe space for the Trans/Drag/Cross Dresser community to meet
- Name Changing-How to legally change your name in the state of North Carolina
- Knowing Your Status-Free HIV/STI/STD Testing, PrEP education and how to access it.
- Day of Metamorphosis-group community events that include education, awareness, advocacy, make up tips/tricks, Drag Etiquette 101 as well as other topics/lessons to become a more empowered individual.
- Hormone Replacement Therapy-HRT 101
- T-SISTA-A Resource guide and behavior intervention for Transwomen of color
- The T Fitting Room-any member of the Ladies of the T can come in and, when they donate clothes to the fitting room, are able to swap and share clothes, jewelry, shoes, accessories, etc. for a brief period of time. Each time you return the borrowed item, you can borrow another. This is free to all members.
- T-Talk Thursdays-T-Talk is a twitter page that will discuss various topics that are important to the Trans/Drag/Cross Dresser community. Various guest speakers may appear on our discussions. Date and time of Twitter feed discussions TBA (to be announced).
