Triangle Empowerment Center

Triangle Empowerment Center Incorporated has been operating since 2008. We are a non-profit organization that currently provides a variety of services to anyone in crisis and in need of job readiness, job placement, and assistance with substance abuse, training, and empowerment.

Triangle Empowerment Center Inc. proudly provides services to residents of the Durham, Wake, Orange counties and the surrounding areas.

To create a happy, healthy, united community through empowerment and education.

Triangle Empowerment Center, Inc. will always find ways to support those at risk for homelessness, people with disabilities, HIV/AIDS, men and women who are substance abusers, veterans, and mentally ill. We offer a holistic approach of care through crisis intervention, food, shelter, housing, education, and referrals.

As an organization for healing and empowerment, TEC conduct activities that promote healthy self-concept, constructive decision-making, cultural affirmation and critical consciousness among Same Gender Loving (SGL) and bisexual people. TEC affirms and educates SGL and bisexual men and women while providing tools for self-determination, community, responsibility, self-actualization, and the prevention of health threats.

TEC is challenged to address rural health disparities that have a impact to young gay men of color.

Triangle Empowerment Center has a mission to empower groups in action helping people in crisis through assistance, placement, referrals, and prayers.

Triangle Empowerment Center, Inc. is positioned to meet the needs of persons from various socio-economic backgrounds, to include those with low income, homelessness, unemployed, disabled substance abusers, HIV/AIDS, and veterans who find themselves in emergency crisis situations.

TEC is built on a philosophy that embraces same gender loving experience as an intrinsic facet of everyday life. Integral to TEC’s approach is the understanding that, in order to decrease internal and external homo-reactionary thinking and demystify differences around diverse ways of living, loving and being, same gender loving, bisexual and transgendered people of color must engage in supportive dialogue with each other and the community.

The types of assistance Triangle Empowerment Center, Inc. offers are intended to bridge gaps to long-term solutions to problems for historically under-served populations in our community.

As a private non-profit organization, TEC relies on individuals, benefit events, corporations, foundations, the faith community, local, state, and federal grants.

Being a non-discriminatory organization, we welcome anyone who identifies themselves as SGL, gay, bisexual and even heterosexual. Many men, not necessarily identifying as gay/lesbian or with mainstream gay/lesbian culture, without TEC, have no safe or affirming space or community within which they can seek and achieve healing, affirmation self- acceptance and fellowship.

TEC strives to meet people where they are at in their life circumstances/situations. We offer a wholesome approach to promote empowerment and self-sufficiency.
